Sharing ideas on leveraging data analytics platforms to enhance mobile app growth and marketing performance

I’ve been exploring different data analytics platforms for our app.
Trying to figure out which metrics really move the needle on growth and marketing.
Anyone found a platform that’s particularly insightful for mobile? What key data points do you track?

Forget the fancy stuff. Focus on what matters: installs, retention, and revenue per user. Those numbers tell you if you’re growing and making money.

Google Analytics for Firebase is free and gets the job done. Set up events for key actions in your app. Track how many users complete them.

Look at your funnel weekly. Find where users drop off. Fix those spots. We bumped revenue 30% by tweaking one screen that was confusing people.

Don’t waste time on vanity metrics. If a number doesn’t help you make decisions, ignore it. Keep it simple and act on what you learn.

App Annie’s pretty good. Tracks downloads, revenue, and user ratings. Helps spot trends and compare with competitors.

I’ve used a mix of tools, but Firebase Analytics has been solid for our apps. It’s free and integrates well if you’re already using other Firebase stuff.

Key metrics we track:

  1. Retention (Day 1, 7, 30)
  2. Session length
  3. Events per user
  4. Revenue per user

These give us a good picture of engagement and monetization without getting lost in the weeds.

One tip: set up funnels for your core user flows. We found a big drop-off in our onboarding that was killing retention. Fixed it, and saw a 20% bump in week 1 retention.

Don’t just collect data. Act on it. We do weekly reviews and always test one improvement based on the numbers.

I’ve had good results with Mixpanel for mobile app analytics. It helps track user actions and conversion funnels easily.

The key metrics I focus on are retention rates, daily active users, and revenue per user. These give a clear picture of growth and monetization.

Keep it simple at first. Too many metrics can be overwhelming and counterproductive.

Forget fancy platforms. Just look at revenue and churn. That’s what matters for indie apps.
