Anyone compared the conversion of AI-built funnels vs. manually built ones?

Been seeing more tools that auto-generate funnels using AI.

Wondering if they actually perform better than the ones we build step by step.

Has anyone run proper A/B tests on this?

AI funnels work for a broad audience but lack the personal touch needed for specific users. I’ve tried them for three apps and found the conversion rates decent but not remarkable. Manual funnels take more effort, yet they allow you to use the exact words your users use in feedback. This often leads to better connection and conversion. AI helps speed up the process, but hands-on work yields better results every time.

Used AI for initial funnel builds on two apps last year. The speed’s insane - what takes me 2-3 days normally gets done in hours.

Here’s the catch: AI nails basic structure and flow logic, but it can’t read your analytics or understand why users drop off at specific points. It builds what looks right on paper.

My manual funnels still convert better because I build around actual user behavior. Like I know my users need social proof on page 2, not page 1 - that’s where they hesitate most.

Now I use AI for the skeleton, then manually rebuild key conversion points. Saves time, keeps performance.

Tried AI funnels on a couple of campaigns. They look nice but convert around 8% less than manual ones.

Tested this twice. AI tools build decent structure but miss the context that matters for your specific audience. The copy feels generic and the flow doesn’t match how your users actually behave. You end up tweaking so much you might as well build from scratch. Manual funnels converted 15-20% better in my tests because you can optimize for the pain points and language your users actually respond to. AI’s good for ideas and speed, but not performance.
