App revenue optimization tips that actually helped you

Been running different experiments for months now but results are all over the place.

Tried paywall positioning, pricing tests, even changed onboarding flow twice. Some stuff moved the needle but wondering what’s been most impactful for others here.

Removing friction from the signup process greatly improved my conversions.

Many focus on pricing and features but overlook small steps that can lose users. Asking too much info too soon or using confusing buttons is common.

I also track where users drop off instead of just final numbers.

Push notifications actually moved revenue more than paywall tweaks. Timing matters a lot though.

Show clear value before asking for payment.

Most apps rush users to the paywall without proving the product works. Let people use core features first, see results, then hit them with the upgrade.

Also track cohort revenue instead of just conversion rates. A 5% convert rate means nothing if those users churn in week two. Better to have 3% who stick around and pay for months.

Longer free trials helped me gain more subscribers.
