I’ve had a free app for around 8 months and it’s gaining some traction.
I’m considering moving to an upfront pricing model instead of relying on ads.
Can I just adjust the pricing in my current listing, or do I need a new app entirely?

You can change pricing right in the app. Current users stay free, new ones pay.
Don’t switch your current app to paid. You’ll tank your downloads and rankings. Instead, launch a separate paid version while keeping the free one live. The free app still pulls in users. Run the paid version for a few months and see if it beats your ad revenue. If it does, then you can phase out the free one. This way you keep existing users happy and don’t mess with your ASO.
