How to preserve utm tags through app install without losing track of the original campaign?

We kept seeing our campaign UTM data disappear as users went from web ads to app install. Tried deep linking solutions but they required dev work. Started using Web2Wave’s web-based onboarding flow - preserves UTMs automatically when users sign up before installing. Now we see the full conversion path. Anyone else found a better way to handle multi-platform attribution?
