Mobile app revenue optimization – what's working for you?

Been experimenting with different revenue models for our app. Tried tweaking subscription tiers, running limited-time offers, and even toyed with a freemium approach.

Curious what’s been effective for others lately. Seems like the landscape is always shifting.

In app purchases work best for us quick wins easy money.

Lately, we’ve had success with a personalized approach. We segment users based on their behavior and engagement levels, then tailor offers to each group.

For power users, we push premium features and longer subscription terms. For casual users, we focus on bite-sized upgrades or short-term trials.

We also implemented dynamic pricing. Adjusts based on user location, time of day, and app usage patterns. Boosted conversions by about 8% over static pricing.

One surprise win: loyalty rewards for long-term users. Giving them exclusive perks or discounts on renewals improved retention significantly.

Remember, what works varies by app and audience. Keep testing and measuring. The ‘right’ model is the one your users respond to.

Hybrid model works okay. Free tier, then subscriptions for main stuff. Add-ons for extras. Keep testing prices and offers though.

In-app purchases can work, but they’re not a silver bullet. I’ve seen better results with a hybrid model. Start with a free tier to get users in, then offer a reasonably priced subscription for core features. Use in-app purchases for premium add-ons or time-savers.

Key is to align your monetization with user value. If they’re getting real benefit, they’ll pay. Don’t nickel and dime them.

Also, optimize your onboarding flow. Show value fast, then introduce paid options naturally. Test different price points and offers. What works changes, so keep experimenting.

For me, tiered subscriptions with clear value at each level work well. Free tier gets them hooked, then upsell to premium features.

I also run seasonal promos and limited-time deals. Creates urgency and boosts conversions.

Keep tweaking and testing though. What works changes fast in this game.
