Sales tax compliance for apps – any automated tools?

Our app is growing across multiple states and the sales tax situation is getting messy.

Manual tracking is becoming a nightmare. Looking at automated solutions but not sure which ones actually work well for mobile apps. What are you all using?

Try QuickBooks. It simplifies tax tracking a lot.

TaxCloud is worth considering. It’s free for most usage and manages nexus tracking well. The API integration can be set up quickly. In our experience, TaxCloud helped us stay organized during audits and automated filing kept us compliant across multiple states. It’s a cost-effective option compared to Avalara, which can get pricey fast. Look into it before spending on other tools.

Been dealing with this headache for three apps now. Avalara handles the complexity better than most - it pulls transaction data automatically and files in all the states where you hit thresholds.

Set it up once and it runs itself. Costs more than TaxJar but saves hours every month when you’re in 10+ states.

One thing - make sure whatever you pick integrates with your payment processor. Had to rebuild reporting when we switched tools mid-year.

There are several tools. TaxJar is popular and easy to use.

Stripe Tax is a solid choice. If you use Stripe for payments, it keeps everything organized in one place.

The setup is easy, and it calculates taxes automatically based on user location. This means no worries about differing state rates or filing deadlines.

While it adds a little cost per transaction, it saves time on separate tax software and helps with compliance.
