That "middle" pricing tier. Is it just a decoy to make your main plan look like a better deal? I'm not sure anyone on our platform actually buys it.

Our three-tier pricing has been around for six months and only 2% opt for the middle tier.

Thinking about removing it altogether but curious if there’s a strategy we might be missing.

Middle tiers often help make higher plans seem like a better choice. It might be doing its job.

Start with your usage data. If most users aren’t hitting basic plan limits, they won’t upgrade anyway. Your middle tier only works if it fixes something basic can’t handle. See what your power users actually want and price around that. 2% conversion might be fine if those users stick around and spend more. Check revenue per tier before scrapping anything.

Same thing happened with our food delivery app. Middle tier stuck at 3% for months.

We were positioning it wrong - treated it like a watered-down premium instead of its own thing. Rebuilt it for weekend users who don’t need daily delivery.

Shot up to 18% after that. The middle option needs its own identity, not just a stepping stone to premium.

Test it before scrapping it.

People need a reason to choose it.
