The 30% platform fee is brutal. For those selling on the web too, how do you message the price difference without explicitly trashing Apple or Google?

Dealing with this issue a lot with our subscription app. We have better web pricing, but explaining to users is tricky.

How can we present it without directly criticizing the platforms? Considering if we should just absorb the cost difference.

Position web as the full experience. Frame it as ‘Full features at [web price]’ and ‘Mobile version at [app store price]’. People get that convenience costs more - airport coffee’s expensive for a reason. Same thing here. Don’t eat that 30% unless your LTV can handle it. That cut adds up quick at scale.

I tell web users they’re getting early access pricing or bonus features for signing up direct.

Something like “Get premium features when you subscribe on our website” works way better than mentioning platform fees. Users get that they’re getting more value without you explaining the whole fee thing.

Just call web pricing your standard rate. App stores get convenience fees.
