The freemium tightrope walk. How do you decide what's free and what's paid? I feel like we're either giving away too much or not enough to get people hooked.

Struggling with our freemium model lately.

It’s tough to find that balance. On one hand, users can get too much for free and don’t convert, while on the other hand, if we block too much, they leave before they see any value.

What do others do?

Lead with your core value and give enough free usage to prove it works. Track your funnel drop-offs and place the paywall right after users hit that first win moment. I’ve seen apps nail this by limiting usage, not features. Like 10 free exports monthly instead of blocking exports completely. Users get hooked, hit the limit naturally, and convert because they’re already dependent on it.
