Our paywall just said “Join thousands of users” and they flagged it as misleading.
We have legitimate user numbers but apparently that’s not specific enough for them.
Anyone actually win an appeal on something like this? The review process feels like a lottery.
Been through this fight three times. Won once.
The win? I sent a screenshot from our analytics dashboard showing actual user numbers that backed up our claim. Apple wants proof, not promises.
For “Join thousands of users” - they’ll want you to either show the exact number or ditch it. I’ve seen “Join our community” work instead.
Appeals work if you’ve got documentation. Screenshot your analytics, write a quick note explaining why your copy’s accurate, then resubmit. Usually takes 5-7 days.
My two losses happened when I tried arguing their interpretation was wrong. They don’t care about our logic - show proof or change the text.
Apple wants clarity. Focus on concrete features and benefits rather than general figures.
Skip the appeal and rewrite it. Apple’s reviewers change constantly and their standards vary between different people. Appeals take weeks and you’ll probably lose anyway. Cut any user counts unless you’ve got exact proof. Try ‘Get premium features’ or ‘Unlock full access’ instead. I’ve burned months on appeals I could’ve fixed with a quick copy change. Your revenue beats winning some argument with Apple.
