What dashboard tools are you using to visualize complex user journey data?

Been struggling with our current setup for tracking user flows through our funnel.

Mixpanel charts are getting messy and hard to read when we have multiple touchpoints.

What are you all using to actually see the full journey without losing your mind?

Using Google Analytics 4 helps me track basic user flow while Hotjar lets me observe actual behavior on pages. This mix provides clear insights without the clutter of complex dashboards. Sometimes simpler tools are the most effective.

Amplitude gets my vote too but only if you set it up right. Most people dump everything into it and wonder why the charts look like spaghetti. You need to plan your event taxonomy before implementation or you’ll recreate the Mixpanel mess. For quick wins, try PostHog. Their funnel visualization handles messy data better and you can filter noise without rebuilding your tracking setup. Skip the custom route unless you have dedicated eng resources. Three weeks sounds optimistic.

Built something custom with Tableau after getting frustrated with the same issue.

Connected it to our data warehouse so we could pull user events from multiple sources into one clean view.

Cost us about 3 weeks of dev time but now we can actually spot where people drop off in complex funnels.

Way better than trying to piece together reports from different tools.

Amplitude is solid too if you don’t want to build anything. Their journey maps actually make sense when you have 8+ touchpoints.
