What reporting tools software has worked best for your app tracking?

I’ve tried a few different analytics platforms for our app, but I’m not totally sold on any of them.

Some feel too basic, others are overkill for what we need.

Curious what others are using and finding most useful for actionable insights.

Google Analytics works fine. Not fancy but does the job.

We’ve cycled through a few tools over the years. Settled on a mix of Firebase and custom event tracking.

Firebase gives us the basics out of the box. Easy to set up, covers most standard metrics.

For the stuff that really matters to our business, we built custom events. Tracks key funnels, retention triggers, that kind of thing.

Tried fancier tools like Amplitude. Cool features, but overkill for what we actually use day-to-day.

My advice? Start simple. Add complexity only when you have a clear need and plan to act on the data.

Most important is having a process to review and act on insights regularly. Best tool in the world is useless if you’re not using it to drive decisions.

Forget fancy tools. Focus on what moves the needle.

I’ve seen apps waste time and money on bloated analytics suites they barely use. Start simple. Firebase gives you the core metrics to make decisions.

As you grow, layer in custom events for your key actions. That’s where the gold is.

Don’t get caught up in vanity metrics. Track what drives revenue and retention. Everything else is noise.

Remember, data is useless if you’re not acting on it. Pick a tool, set up the basics, and start optimizing.

We use Mixpanel. It’s decent for the basics. Not perfect, but gets the job done for us.

I’ve had good results with Firebase Analytics. Easy to set up, covers key metrics, and integrates well with other Google tools.

For more advanced needs, Amplitude offers deeper insights. But Firebase is a solid starting point that scales nicely as you grow.
