What's the actual conversion rate difference you're seeing for web-based subscriptions vs. in-app purchases? Show me the data if you got it!

Been running both channels for my SaaS app and the numbers are all over the place.

Web signups convert around 12% to paid but in-app is sitting at 3.8%. Platform fees are killing margins but wondering if I’m missing something here.

What are you seeing in your apps?

Those web numbers look solid. I’ve seen conversion gaps but not that wide.

Ran a productivity app - web hit 8% conversion, iOS around 2.1%. Android was slightly better at 2.9% but still way behind.

Web users self-select more. They found you, clicked ads, landed on signup. App users might just be browsing or downloaded on impulse.

Tried pushing qualified traffic to app store instead of web. Gap narrowed to 6% vs 2.8% but volume dropped.

Your 12% web rate’s pretty good. I’d focus on driving more web traffic rather than fixing the in-app funnel.

Those fees can hurt your in-app pricing. Higher prices mean fewer conversions.

Same here, though not quite as dramatic. Web hits 9% conversion while my app does 4.2%.

Makes sense - web users have their payment stuff already saved and can buy fast. App store adds friction with extra steps and higher prices from platform fees. Plus, people download apps just to mess around, not always to buy.

I still focus on both since app volume usually compensates for the weaker conversion.

12% web conversion is solid - most apps only see 6-9%. The gap makes sense though. In-app users hit payment friction and higher fees, plus they’re often just browsing. Web users? They’ve already decided to check you out, got payment info saved, and can see your actual pricing. I’d focus on driving more web traffic. That 12% conversion with cheaper acquisition costs beats trying to fix that 3.8% in-app rate.

Web converts way better but app store brings volume.
