Which application analytics frameworks respect privacy while providing insights?

Been digging into analytics options that don’t completely trash user privacy but still give decent insights.

Most tools either collect everything or give you basically nothing useful. There has to be a middle ground here.

What are you all using that actually works?

Amplitude gives good funnel data while respecting user privacy. Just adjust settings to focus on the important metrics.

GA4’s actually got decent privacy controls if you dig around. Turn off data sharing and ads personalization - you’ll lose some features but keep the main funnel tracking.

I’ve run EU-compliant campaigns using GA4 for app installs and in-app purchases without issues. Just watch what events you’re sending.

Plausible’s another solid choice that keeps things simple. Here’s a good breakdown of how it handles privacy vs other tools:

For mobile, stick to events that actually matter for your business. Revenue, key user actions, drop-off points. You don’t need to track every tap and scroll to run good campaigns.

Plausible Analytics works great without invading privacy.

Simple Analytics works well too. It tracks basic metrics without cookies or collecting personal data.

For mobile apps, I only track conversion events that impact revenue. Skip all the extra fluff. You’ll still get solid insights on user flow and retention without overcomplicating things.

Mixpanel works great for tracking events without storing personal data. Just set it up right. You’ll get conversion funnels, retention, and behavior patterns without any identifying info. Skip sending emails or device IDs through events. PostHog is solid too since you can self-host and keep everything on your own servers. Both give you the conversion data you need to optimize your app.
